About the Author
Brian Avery and his wife, Marina, have three children with stunning academic credentials, each tracking toward rewarding careers. After entertaining questions about how their children performed so well, and listening to dismissals that not everyone can be a genius, the author is sharing the approach he and his wife took. He is an environmental manager for a steel company in Alabama. Both he and his wife have a formal education in engineering. This is his first book.

This is a great book that can help any parent that is concerned and focused on their child's future. This is an easy to read book that can give you ideas on how to help your child excel and maintain top of the class status. In addition the book has great ideas on how to select fields of study that are in demand. My wife and I agree with many of the opinions of Mr. Avery and actually perform a few of the suggested items with our 6 year old. Luckily we are fortunate to have been exposed to this reference while our children are young. We feel that by following many of the ideas discussed, we have the ability to "Raise Genius".

As a former high school math teacher and current father of two middle school aged children, I couldn't agree more with Brian's views expressed throughout this book. From a teacher's perspective, it was very apparent to me which parents were spending time with their children working on homework. I am a firm believer that when you set appropriate challenges, children can accomplish incredible things as they strive to meet those challenges with consistent support from their parents. Although results will vary, one thing is certain, one can not go wrong by adhering to Brian's advice and investing time in your children to set them up for both academic and career success.
Hillary Clinton says it takes a village to raise a child, Mr. Avery says it takes involved parents. I agree with Mr. Avery's assessment. A child’s understanding of the world around them is influenced by their parent’s guidance. A child is not born with the knowledge that their achievements as an adolescent will give them success in life, this knowledge must be taught. I always tell the kids I coach that if they do what everyone else does, they will be like everyone else. If they want to be good, if they want to be great, they need to work harder than those around them. Mr. Avery tells parents how to achieve this. Very good book!
Great & must read for parents with younger kids!!! You can easily transform your child's life and give them a purpose at very early stages. As a matter of fact i did try some of the ideas/techniques from the book on my 6yr old for just for couple of week's & could see a shift in confidence level. The ideas/techniques presented in the book are a win-win because you get to spend a quality time with your kids and at the same time you are helping them get better & exceed in life. Brian has done a great job describing very logically the importance of early training your child, its importance & how it can be reinforced. Well it's hard & requires some discipline but it is something every parent should try and do.

This book is an easy read. It is filled with common sense information to help you help your children excel academically. Mr Avery is also on the same page as my husband and I in regards to college. If you want to see your children take responsibility for their own education then this book is for you. Mr Avery has also taken the time to research the top ten areas of degrees to pursue to see that your children step out of college working in their field of study. I highly recommend this read for any parent who is willing to be an active participant in their child's education.
Really well done book, inspired me to be much more systematic in my approach to the kids' education, and offers several examples of good methods. Thanks!!
