In a world where it's unusual but men can carry children, boutique owner Kyle Gerritsen has just about managed to get his life back on an even keel after a pretty rocky couple of years when someone puts a brick through his shop window. Typical of the way his life has gone of late it’s suspected he is the latest victim of a mini crime wave in his neighbourhood and he is horrified when one of the investigating detectives assigned to his case turns out to be Jonah Goldman – otherwise known as the one night stand that has unknowingly fathered Kyle’s beloved son Shea. Kyle doesn’t know whether to be relieved or outraged when it is apparent that Jonah has no memory of their night together but knows that he needs to do everything he can to keep out of the studly detective’s way in future – especially as the gleam in the detective’s eye is all too familiar and the last time he saw it he ended up a single father! Jonah just knows that there’s something about Kyle and he’s just interested enough to ignore Kyle’s increasingly desperate attempts at rejection to try and figure out what it is.

This is a new author for me and I am glad I took the chance and got this book.Kyle was nineteen when he hooked up with a big handsome man in a club. Jonah took him outside and rocked his young mind, and permanently changed his life forever. This is a world where a small number of men can get pregnant, and a world where the men's room condoms are not to be trusted.
Kyle had Shea and bought a boutique - he made a life for them. Then a senseless act of vandalism shakes his world apart because one of the detectives is his baby daddy, and Jonah doesn't recognise Kyle. At all. Kyle is terrified what Jonah will do if he realises they have a child together.
When Jonah is told he and Kyle hooked up at a club but Kyle hadn't told him he is furious - more so when he realises the kid is his. His reaction is violent - what Kyle doesn't realise is Jonah doesn't remember because he can't.
I liked this story from the start. It jumped right up and captured me because it is a different premise: men can get pregnant.
I was enjoying it but the two female characters are aggressive and possessive to a degree that is frustrating. And while I do like this story, it is such a good idea and so different, that I am really disappointed there was such a lack of depth to the relationship between Jonah and Kyle. There was quite a build up but we don't see the relationship develop when they start to spend time together. We don't get to see how Jonah relates to, and interacts with Shea. There was a lot of potential here to become immersed in the bonding of a child and his father - but nothing, the story jumps ahead. The same with Jonah and Kyle, nothing intimate, nothing showing the building of trust and friendship. Kyle has said they will be friends, because he doesn't think there will be anything else - but we don't see that. We are told that through the women. I just wish the author had invested more time and thought into what the story was about: the building of love between men and the story of a man claiming his child, seeking his love and learning to be a Dad.
i like the story - but it could have been so much more. I will for more by the author but will be reading the reviews before I buy.

A Memory Away edition by Taylor Lewis Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I have to confess that I HATE M-preg books. My overly pragmatic mind simply cannot wrap itself around the concept of a man bearing a child. But, one of my favorite type of het romance, are secret babies, so I was very curious as to how Taylor Lewis was going to handle the M/M version. A Memory Away might just be the title to make me rethink that opinion.
First off, the explanation of how Kyle was able to conceive was extremely plausible. And without pulling out all my old anatomy books, I could see it. Secondly, Kyle is not a woman with a penis. He thinks, acts and reacts like a man. Even when he was wearing pretty panties and taking care of Jonah, I always saw him as a man, and for me that’s important.
But, Jonah is who I absolutely loved. He is a hot mess. He knows how to be the big bad detective, but when it comes to emotions, he is so clueless. I almost felt sorry for him. Love and relationships were not on his radar, not to mention fatherhood to “the kid,” but he accidentally fell. And fell hard.
I would recommend this story to readers who like their romance with a little sweetness mix in. Sweet babies, badass partners, and kickass best friends.
Highly recommend.
As soon as i read the blurb and found out it was book about male pregnancies , i was sold. Love that in a book.
I loved the characters. Loved the story. Love everything.
Kyle was out partying (as one would do) when he stumbled onto Jonah. They start dancing in the club. Immediately hit it off and things start to get hot and heavy. That's code for they did the deed. The deed of f----ing. Fast forward a couple years and Kyle is running a boutique with his best friend. Now Kyle's flamboyant and proud. Not ashamed of whom he is. He's funny and he's adorable. It was easy to like his character. After that sexcaspade in the club we learn that Kyle got pregnant. The father is --- JONAH.
Jonah has no memory of his encounter with Kyle. Why? He was undercover and during the operation he got into a scuffle and hit his noggin pretty hard. So of course his memories of that night kind of faded into nothing-land. I heard it's a confusing land. Anyway. Kyle reports the vandalism of his boutique and who should appear to investigate on scene? Yes. Jonah.
Kyle is dumbfounded. Pissed and afraid. However, Jonah doesn't remember Kyle and Kyle doesn't see the need to inform Jonah that he's a daddy. Has been for sometime now. Now before you judge Kyle understand that he was at first operating on hurt feelings. He's a pretty memorable fella and the fact that Jonah doesn't remember him is down right insulting. He moves passed that emotion and goes to straight to fear. He doesn't want to lose his son and there's a chance Jonah (if he were to find out about their son) could take him away.
The situation plays on and secrets start to become uncovered. People get hurt. Tempers fly. Fists are drawn and tears are shed. A lot of s--* goes down. It was a pleasure to read it all happen. The relationship between Kyle and Jonah was fantastic and perfect. It was flawed and it was beautiful.
I hope Taylor Lewis does another male pregnancy story like this one. It was written so well and one of the books i often find myself re-reading from time to time.
