I love Angela Potts! I look forward to getting Woman's World each week in case she's in there, teaming up with the endearing Chunky Jones. So I was thrilled to get a whole book of Angela mysteries! I appreciate Mr Floyd's humour, quick eye and ability to challenge with his mysteries. I love that Angela Potts is an older woman, there aren't enough characters like her out there. I only wish there were a hundred in this collection, as it's hard not to devour them!My only criticism of this book is of the story "Puppy Love". I - and other animal lovers, I assume - was horrified when I realized the child had given away puppies that weren't even 24 hours old. Not only would that probably kill them, but the people Timmy thought would be good owners must be the opposite to take newborns like that. If Angela knew that Dalmatians don't get their spots for 2 weeks, she should have told Timmy that puppies shouldn't leave their mother before at least six! Perhaps a child wouldn't realize what he's doing, but the "kind people" he gave them to should surely know - and it left me feeling queasy to read about blind newborn pups being handled like that. So one star off.

Good short mysteries
These are GREAT mysteries! What a delight to read them! Mr. Floyd is now my favorite author!
I have thoroughly enjoyed these short, concise and just plain fun-to-read mysteries!! When I would purchase a Womans World mag this is the very first section I would go to ... when I found an entire book devoted to these I just had to have it!!
I like this series so much I always buy Woman's World magazine when there's an Angela Potts story. These 50 stories read quickly but still show off the characters of the sheriff and the retired school teachers. T
Great book of short mysteries. I love it and read a couple of stories a night. I've followed Sherriff Jones and Angela Potts in Woman's World so I'm thrilled to join them again for their adventures on the ones I've read and look forward to the new ones. If you like short, solve-it mysteries, I highly recommend Fifty Mysteries.
For years now, while waiting in the checkout line at the grocery store, I've checked the WOMAN'S WORLD on display to see if the mini-mystery is an Angela Potts and Sheriff Chunky Jones story by John Floyd. If it is, I buy the magazine. What a delight it is to have fifty of these stories gathered in one place! These are good, old-fashioned puzzle mysteries that tell an intriguing story and play absolutely fair with the reader. When I manage to guess the solution, I feel very clever; when I don't guess it, I never feel cheated--the clue was right there, staring me in the face, and I just wasn't observant enough to noticet. Either way, it's always a satisfying experience, partly because the characters are so charming and the humor so plentiful. I'm going to buy a second copy for my grandson, who loves books but tends to read very quickly and not always very carefully. I think these stories would encourage younger readers to pay attention to details and think critically about what they've read. (And there's no inappropriate content or inappropriate language to worry about.)
